Madi's Story
My name is Madison Prappas and I am a senior at Archbishop Murphy. Throughout all of high school, my main foundation was my school. Murphy has gotten me through a lot and I can say for certain that if it wasn’t for the Murphy community I wouldn’t be here today.
I come from a life of hardship, neglect, abuse, and poverty. In seventh grade, I was living in a small town in northeastern Colorado. I was being neglected by my parents so I made the risky choice to run away to a better life in Washington. I convinced my mother to buy me a plane ticket so I could visit my family in Washington however what she did not know is that I would not be on the returning flight. I came here at 13 years old with nothing.
I moved in with my grandparents who were not able to financially support me with their retirement alone. However, I knew that I wanted the best because I came from the worst. So I made it my mission to get into the best Catholic College Preparatory school I could find and that just so happened to be Archbishop Murphy. I knew that it would be difficult to afford financially, that’s why I applied for tuition assistance and I received an award. Because of generous people like you I was able to be put through 4 years of high school at the best possible school I could be at. I owe so much to the Murphy community for giving me not only a superior education but a family that I didn’t necessarily have.
After graduation I plan on joining the Air Force because I’ve always had a mission to serve. Thanks to the aid I received, I had the opportunity to reach my full potential. I know for certain I wouldn’t be here without it.
